Peart House, born in 1947, has long strived at being the “Best All-Round” house in the College. Named after Joseph Norris Peart, the Headmaster who was killed in World War II. Peart and Marsden were formed from the division of Town House. Eighty-two of Peart’s original dayboy members came from Town House.
The Lion on Peart’s logo commemorates the fact that Joseph Peart was a student at Auckland Grammar School, a great, long-standing rival of the College; it also represents the resolute spirit and determination shown by each House member when in competition with other houses. The motto “Veritas Praevalet” means let honesty prevail and is a strong value in Peart. Since the construction of the Day Boy complex in 1976 (comprised of three houses), Peart has been able to build a strong sense of community and a formidable place in the College.
2009 will bring challenges to Peart with the Merit Shield under great competition and many of our title defenses becoming under threat. Sam Morris, Head of House and his fellow Prefects have put great emphasis on the importance of involvement and team spirit that is imperative if we are to win the Merit Shield. Currently, Peart House has 124 dayboy members.
