College Affiliates
The King's community includes a wide range of stakeholders that are very important affiliates of the College.
Friends of King's CollegeThe Friends of King's College are lead by a committee of parents current and past, who focus on 'friendraising' and fundraising. Primarily, they endeavour to ensure that every parent feels welcome at the College by holding a number of events throughout the year, which are highlighted on the College calendar. They also support the College through a number of highly successful activities, raising funds for various school projects. Most recently they contributed $500,000 to the Campbell Sports Complex, and they have committed to financially supporting the new Mind, Body and Soul Capital Campaign. King's College Old Collegian AssociationThe KCOCA, founded in 1900, has a major role encouraging friend-raising among members and supporting reconnection both with their peers as well as the College itself. Growth is very strong, all students being life-time members when they leave the College. With members ranging from recent leavers to men in their 90’s, the Association has a broad and diverse constituency which is catered for by a selection of some 30-40 annual activities. These include year group reunions, meetings of Recent Old Collegians (ROCs), special interests gatherings, branch meetings (both nationally and internationally) and significant events like the ANZAC Day Service, Annual Dinner, a regular Sports Day against College teams and the awarding of the Old Collegian of the Year and the Old Collegian Sportsman of the Year. In addition, KCOCA operates a bursary assistance programme, which is its largest annual expenditure, aimed at assisting students who might not otherwise be able to attend King’s. The production of the quarterly King’s Courier, first produced in 1925 and KCOCA’s main communications vehicle, is a joint venture between the College and the Association. While not primarily a fund-raising organisation, over the years the KCOCA has been responsible for some of the magnificent buildings that make King’s – from the Memorial Chapel and the Memorial Building to the Sports Pavilion. Floreat Semper FellowshipThe Floreat Semper Fellowship is the very special group of Old Collegians who have reached the grand age of 70 years. They hold two special events each year; a spring luncheon with Chapel Service and a summer luncheon with attendance at a School assembly. |
