Rationale for Learning Support

To identify and analyse barriers that restrict student learning and achievement (National Administration Guidelines 1997 Ministry of Education) To give success in students learning for those with special needs by ensuring that they are identified and receive appropriate support (National Education Guidelines 1999 Ministry of Education) To acknowledge that some students will have learning difficulties and offer programmes and support to meet the needs of these students

 

Learning Support Policy


Department Role

King's College Learning Support Department has the responsibility to identify students who may need specialist support. These students have been identified through previously identified learning difficulties at previous feeder schools. PAT testing / Entry Tests / Midyis results/ Teachers / Housemasters / Parents / School exams.

Students who need support have access to the following
Educational Psychologist assessment
Learning support class
One-on-one tuition
Reader/writer/time for exams
Successmaker
Specialist resources Teacher
Housemaster/student support.
