Chamber Music
Each year the College forms a major chamber group to be the flagship group entering the National Chamber Music Competition. There are presently three chamber trios at the College, coached to a high standard of musicianship and recent successes are testimony to the hard work put in by all concerned. In 2006 the King's Trio, David Choi, Denny Liu and Edward King, reached the last eight finalists from hundreds of groups nationwide and played the Smetana G minor Piano Trio in Wellington Town Hall. In 2007, 'From Russia with Love' reached the last eight of the District Finals playing the haunting Arensky D minor Piano Trio in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. International Coach, Boris Kipnis was trained at the Gorky Conservatoire and later in Moscow. His breadth and experience particularly with Russian music is prized within New Zealand.
