Concert Band

The band numbers some 45 players and rehearses Wednesday mornings before school. Entry is by audition and players enjoy quality coaching and training. King's is a member of the National Concert Band Association and each year normally enters its National Concert Band Festival either held in Auckland or around North Island. Recent achievements have included silver awards, often beating many established bands around the country. Since many of the players are grade VIII, repertoire can be challenging but also theme tunes are also widely enjoyed. Pieces include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, In the Mood, Grease, and The Last Battle. Every year the band plays in Auckland Town Hall as part of the KBB Music Festival, winning critical acclaim. Conductor, Stuart Sherwood.
