The Chess Club welcomes all students interested in chess, whether it be to play competition-grade chess for King's College, or just to enjoy casual games.

We meet on Thursday lunchtimes in Room 14 (Mr McKibbin's room), Terms 1 and 2, but interested members can continue playing through the year.

A Challenge Ladder is set up early in Term 1, and teams for the Term 2 Inter-Secondary Schools Team Competition are chosen from student rankings on it.

The King's College Individual Chess Championship takes place in Term 1, and the Inter-House Competition (with points counting towards the Merritt and Tucker Shields) takes place during Term 3.

The King's College Individual Chess Champion for 2007 is Kevin Gao - Averill.

The 2007 Chess Captain is Rupert Freeman - Marsden House, and the Vice-Captain is Julian Spring - Peart House.
