Religious Education

At King's College, Religious Education is compulsory from Year 9 to 11.

In Year 9, students are introduced to the many different religious traditions found throughout the world. Christianity, Buddhism and Islam are just three of the major religious traditions covered by this course. The students questions are an essential part of this educational programme which seeks to teach respect and understanding of all the world's religions.

In Year 10, students learn the value of reflecting on real life situations through engaging in community service and then discussing and evaluating the experiences they have. To acheive this all Year 10 students engage in the reading in schools programme where they help students in other schools to improve their literacy.

In Year 11, students learn more about religious values and ethics through topics such as violence and terrorism and their relationship to religion. Students discover that while religion can enable and facilitate violence they are equally capabale of providing peaceful solutions to global issues.
