About the Friends

The Association of the Friends of King’s College

The goals of the Association are to provide a welcoming social environment for current and past parents and friends, and to financially and practically support a diverse range of activities and projects at the College.

The Association is run by an Executive Committee of volunteers who are elected at the AGM in May. This Committee is supported by a number of sub-committees each of which takes responsibility for a specific project. These sub-committees are assisted by a large group of hard working parent volunteers. The Executive Committee also works closely with other key departments within the College in particular the Development Office and the Finance Department and with the other College affiliates.

The main aims of the Friends are to 'Friend raise' and to Fundraise. The Committee organises a number of social events throughout the year to encourage parents to engage with other members of the school community and to raise funds for the College. The Association provides financial support for both short term projects, which benefit current students, and to longer-term capital projects, which are an investment for the future. In recent years financial support has been given across a diverse range of activities such as improving the school environment, supplying sporting equipment, providing funds for the Houses and supporting cultural activities, as well as making significant donations to the sports complex, the swimming pool refurbishment and most recently the Mind, Body and Soul Capital Campaign.

Members of the Friends also provide practical support in running the Sports Café on Saturdays and assisting with other social events.
