Excellent holiday results for King's athletes in Australia.
Athletics
During the first week of the Term Two holidays, a team of eight athletes competed in the 2010 Down Under Track and Field meeting on the Gold Coast of Australia, competing against athletes from the USA, each state of Australia and fellow New Zealand athletes.
The whole team had excellent results with quality out-of-season performances and achieved the following:
Liz Rankin placed 2nd in the Under-20 womens' 100m in a time of 12.94, and 4th in the Under-20 200m.
Jenni Scott placed 3rd in the Under-18 womens' long jump with a jump of 5.05m, and 3rd in the triple jump with a jump of 10.82m.
Ben Moynihan placed 2nd in the Under-18 800m in a time of 2m01.1s, and 2nd in the Under-18 1500m in a time of 4m09.6.
Liam Cowley placed 4th in the Under-18 steeplechase and 8th in the Under-18 1500m final.
Jordan Vetter placed 1st in the Under-16 100m hurdles, 2nd in the Under-16 200m hurdles, 3rd in the Under-16 high jump and placed 7th in the final of the Under-16 400m final.
Henry Newell placed 4th in the Under-16 800m in a time of 2m10.6s, and 6th in the final of the Under-16 1500m.
Hamish Wu placed 3rd in the Under-16 800m in a time of 2m08.52m and 5th in the Under-16 1500m.
Charles Hulley placed 5th in the Under-20 steeplechase.
