Welcome Headmaster

Although he has been in New Zealand for a couple of weeks, new King's College Headmaster, Mr Bradley Fenner, officially commences his role in the top job at King’s today, Monday 20 April.

Until recently, Mr Fenner was Headmaster of Westminster School in Adelaide for the past ten years.  Westminster, a Uniting Church school, and regarded as one of South Australia's leading schools, is a co-educational school of 1,250 students from pre-school to Year 12.


Mr Fenner has had a long association with independent schooling having attended The Geelong College (where he was Head Boy) and taught at Caulfield Grammar School (Melbourne), St Peter's College (Adelaide), Portora Royal School (Northern Ireland), Brisbane Boys' College and The Armidale School (New South Wales). Each of the schools at which Mr Fenner has taught have been boarding schools and, whilst at Brisbane Boys' College, he was Head of Boarding.  Mr Fenner is recognised as being one of Australia's leading Headmasters.

Mr Fenner attended Melbourne University from which he holds a BA (Hons), B Ed and a Dip Ed. He has undertaken a wide range of other education related studies including the Principals' Leadership Course at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has been an Australian national rowing champion and was awarded a Melbourne University Rowing Blue.

Mr Fenner and his wife Barbara have 3 children – Rhys (18) – who is currently in Australia, Cluny (10) - who will attend St Cuthberts and Thomas (8) – who will attend King’s School. Mrs Fenner has been actively involved in school life at Westminster and shares Bradley's interest in rowing, having represented Australia in that sport and presently being an Australian rowing selector and member of the International Rowing Federation Commission. In addition to coaching rowing, Mr Fenner has coached rugby and been a rugby referee.  He has been involved in a number of professional bodies, has served as Chair of the Independent Schools Sport Association (SA) and is an elected member of the Standing Committee of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia.

The College welcomes the Fenner family and wishes them well for their time at King’s.
